History and Community

GlobalSight HistoryGlobalSight was first introduced to the market in 1997 under the name Ambassador Suite and it was developed by a Seattle based company called GlobalSight Corp. In 2005 the company was acquired by Transware which continued the development of GlobalSight and added a number of features in order to meet the enterprise need for a translation management system. By 2009, over $50 million was invested in GlobalSigh.

In 2009, Welocalize acquired Transware and GlobalSight TMS along with it. After replacing all propriety technology used in the product, Welocalize released GlobalSight as an open source software and through open collaboration with community, built the first and only open source translation management system.

GlobalSight CommunityAfter GlobalSight became open source, it quickly gained popularity in the localization space. As of today, there are more than 6000 members on GlobalSight community forum and almost 20,000 downloads – and these numbers are growing every day.

Community members can submit their questions on the GlobalSight community forum and are encouraged to submit their ideas for future development.
